Provide necessary assistance to support various functions of the Archive Department by properly and accurately performing position job segments in order of priority and the daily upkeep of slide/block filing and retrieval.

Slides as follows:
Upon delivery of slides on trays by the pathologists (or pick up directly in their offices) to the Medical Clerk organization area, placing the slides by prefix same number sequence range i.e. D12 21,000 to 22,000 and the B12 slides by same sequence number range i.e. 16,100 to 16,400 in separate trays etc.
Bringing the trays to the slide file cabinet for insertion into appropriate cabinet labeled by first accession # and last accession # range i.e. 0370610 – 0371796, by specialty and year and filing them.
During filing of slides, placing a white tag in the slide row to separate cases by the ‘hundred’ number to assist in filing.
Filing of late slides and removal of the white tags.
Responsibility of placing tag if slide is removed for special request i.e. pathologists’ request, 2nd opinion send out or legal purposes and writing in the case #, the name of the pathologist or individual requesting the slides with the date and the number of slides removed.
Retrieval of slides for 2nd opinion send out, pathologist requests (internal) for review.
Retrieval of blocks from the IHC application’s pending list.
Placing reports of patient related materials that need shredding in the Iron Mountain bin in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
Re-filing of all slides and blocks pulled, requested and/or sent out once reconciled and received.
Performs quality control checks in each cabinet and drawer to ensure accuracy of all filed slides and blocks prior to sending to long term offsite storage.
Assists in slide/block returns not limited to consults, pc and ihc cases.
Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor and/or non-technical manager.
