Under the general supervision of the histology supervisor, render assistance in the day-to-day administration of the laboratory.
- Knowledgeable in the handling of specimens from accessioning to final specimen storage.
- Assist supervisor with day to day administration of Histology Laboratory. Defined duties include:
- Staff development and training.
- Writing and updating technical procedures for the Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Assisting in the administration of all Quality Control Programs.
- Assisting in the scheduling of work flow.
- Compliance with all Federal and State regulations pertaining to histology. Specifically:
- Adhere to workload requirements.
- Maintenance of accurate work records (i.e., Maintenance Logs, Temperature Logs, etc.)
- Assists product line leaders with responding to questions and problems.
- Evaluates new equipment and procedures.
- Reviews slides for overall quality of preparation such as staining intensity, proper cover slipping and stain artifacts to help insure accurate diagnosis.
- Cross-training and familiarization with other departments
- Assists other departments during downtime.
- Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor.
